In this role, you will independently identify, evaluate, and drive new business opportunities including partnerships, licensing (in/out), acquisitions, and divestitures. You will lead end-to-end deal processes including evaluation, valuation, negotiation, due diligence, contracting, and post-deal alliance management. You will partner closely with cross-functional teams to assess strategic fit, feasibility, and business rationale. You will monitor industry trends, competitive activity, and market dynamics to inform BD strategy and opportunity creation. You will manage multiple BD projects concurrently with high autonomy in a fast-paced, lean organizational setting. You will represent Pfizer as a credible counterpart in external partner discussions and negotiations. You will support the BD Lead in shaping and executing Pfizer Japan’s BD strategy and long-term growth initiatives.
Bachelor’s degree in business, life sciences, or a related field. Minimum 5 years of experience in business development in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry. Proven track record of independently leading BD deals through successful closure. Strong analytical, communication, and negotiation skills. Experience working cross-functionally. Deep understanding of the Japanese pharmaceutical industry and regulatory environment. Solid understanding of deal structures, contracts, and negotiations. Fluency in both Japanese and English. High sense of confidentiality and ethics.
MBA or advanced degree. Experience working in a global matrix organization. Experience in alliance management or post-deal integration. Strong project management and problem-solving capabilities. Flexibility, adaptability, and ability to manage ambiguity. Proven ability to engage directly and effectively with senior stakeholders, both internally and externally.
