ispace, inc. is looking for a Solutions Architect to join our Advanced Research and Development team in Tokyo. Space industry experience required. As the R&D Lead Solutions Architect, you are a conceptual designer who coordinates a team of engineers, partners directly with Business Development teams and Customers to lead the development of technical solutions for proposals covering the full span of cislunar environment missions (landers, orbit transfer vehicles, lunar satellites, rovers, etc.). It is expected that technical solution concepts start at mid/low technical maturity and you develop them to a CML2+ level (see JPL "concept maturity level" scale). The position will require you to work globally, but is based in Tokyo/will require relocation and reports to the EVP of R&D (CTO Group).
- Hold a bachelor's degree or higher in aerospace engineering, systems engineering, or a related field - Possess excellent communication skills in both English and Japanese, capable of engaging in detailed technical discussions with customers and internal business development teams - Have over 5 years of experience related to missions and orbits (communications, transportation, space situational awareness, etc.) and be familiar with at least two of the following spacecraft subsystems: attitude/orbit control, communications, propulsion, power, structures, thermal control
- Practical experience in preparing technical proposals for government agencies or industrial clients - Experience in systems engineering for space projects at the mission level or relevant educational background - Over 3 years of experience in project management or technical management in small teams - Experience using engineering tools such as GMAT, STK - Experience using Python or similar languages (e.g., MATLAB) in a professional setting
