You'll engage with various business units, broadening your professional knowledge and expertise Driving group-wide risk management activities In our Risk Management Department, we focus on the following activities in our approach to risk management. (The hiring position will be considered based on your experience and aptitude.) Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Incident Management We are currently seeking to expand our team to further achieve the mission of the Risk Management Section: 'Strengthening Group-wide Risk Resilience.' We are specifically looking for individuals who can autonomously identify issues and drive process improvements. As we support a diverse range of business operations, this role offers the opportunity to gain extensive experience beyond incident handling—ranging from establishing management frameworks and implementing reporting processes, to drafting regulations and conducting employee training. We are looking for candidates who are eager to grow with us and develop into leaders who will drive our organizational governance in the near future. Working in a diverse team, we can share opinions, learn from each other, and improve together. Though we are a small team, we can gain hands-on experience in building and improving the foundation that supports the entire group. Coordinating with many stakeholders can be challenging, but it is rewarding. We can gain broad experience, from operations to policy design and projects. Rakuten Group’s Risk Management plays a critical role in identifying and analyzing risks inherent across diverse business domains, supporting the sustainable growth and resilience of the entire Group. In this position, you will develop specialized expertise by leading the establishment and operation of incident management frameworks essential for a global enterprise. Key Responsibilities Incident Handling and Policy Development Evaluate the impact of reported incidents, conduct root-cause analysis, and manage the operation of recurrence prevention processes. Coordinate with internal departments to develop, revise, and maintain internal rules and regulations. Conduct comprehensive reviews of integrated risk management and design operational frameworks. Executive Reporting Prepare and present materials for the Board of Directors, Executive Committee, and risk-related committees. Develop decision-making support materials, including analysis of incident trends and strategic recommendations. Stakeholder Collaboration & Coordination Coordinate with risk-related departments, business units, and group companies. Provide internal support by responding to inquiries regarding risks and incidents. Training & Awareness Conduct risk management training and awareness programs for new employees, managers, and business units. Promote risk management culture to proactively prevent incidents. Process Improvement (AI/RPA Utilization) Drive efficiency improvements in risk and incident management processes. Utilize AI, RPA, and other tools to enhance data analysis and streamline operations. Organizational Structure People: Risk Management Department: about 17/Risk Management Section: 6 full-time members and 1 contract staff member Age: Mostly employees in their 30s and 40s Hiring ratio (new graduate : mid-career): 0:10 Our team members joined us from diverse backgrounds, including customer support in the insurance industry and hygiene management in the manufacturing sector. Within the Risk Management Department, they have been responsible for enhancing the precision of our incident management frameworks, leading projects through proactive issue identification and problem-solving. After gaining approximately three years of experience in the Risk Management Department, some have transferred to roles in divisions such as Marketing or Information Systems. The experience they gained in Risk Management—coordinating with diverse stakeholders and leading projects—has proven invaluable, allowing them to broaden their scope of activity and succeed in new, challenging roles.
- Native-level Japanese - Professional experience related to risk management, corporate planning, problem resolution, or research/data analysis in industries such as operating companies, consulting, public sector, finance, or manufacturing - Proven ability to analyze complex problems, identify root causes, and drive practical solutions from design to execution - Skilled in research, data analysis, planning, slide/document preparation, and presentations - Strong stakeholder management skills, including communicating with senior management: Able to collaborate across functions and communicate risk topics in a clear way - PC/Tools: Solid business skills in Outlook and Word; advanced and fast PowerPoint/Excel skills to prepare executive-level deliverables - English: Able to understand written English materials and handle English email communication
- Experience in risk management (incident response in non-information security areas). - Experience in project planning and execution (issue identification, planning, driving implementation, tracking issues/progress, and communicating/coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, etc.). - Business-level English proficiency. - Experience in negotiating and coordinating with overseas group companies and business partners.
