The MAS role family comprises a variety of medical scientific specialties, such as BU Medical and field based Medical. Be the Pfizer Japan medical scientific point of contact for HCPs, medical societies, regulators, academia and other external stakeholders. Maintain the highest scientific standards, independence and compliance in every medical/scientific external activity, as well as in scope internal processes. Demonstrate medical and scientific leadership and expertise by providing and exchanging medical/scientific information for and from medical institutions and other related sources in the assigned area and from stakeholders; driving heightened understanding of the clinical and medical attributes of products to enhance their safe and efficacious use; maintaining the highest scientific standards during internal and external activities; contributing to local medical strategies and life cycle clinical plans for inline and pipeline medicines and vaccines; contributing to medical strategy decisions to ensure safe, proper, and effective product use; contributing to department and team goals and cross-organizational projects; and supporting team and organization members. Develop and execute the medical plan aligned with the medical strategy to meet unmet medical needs in assigned products and therapeutic areas in collaboration with office medical. Identify unmet medical needs and healthcare disparities through medical activities such as advisory board meetings and scientific exchanges. Create activity plans with senior Medical management, develop and execute Customer Facing Medical Plans, and provide subject matter expertise and high-quality scientific exchange to bring insights into the organization and help shape strategy. Collaborate with medical stakeholders as a scientific expert for HCPs, medical societies, academia, and other relevant organizations. Establish collaborative scientific relationships through non-promotional scientific exchanges; develop and maintain stakeholder maps; handle unsolicited medical request responses with accurate, high-quality, unbiased information in accordance with Pfizer policies; follow up investigator-sponsored research and medical grants; acquire extensive medical and pharmaceutical information; and deliver medical-plan activities, including educational materials, real-world evidence, non-interventional studies, database studies, registries, and timely publication of data. Establish reliable, long-term stakeholder relationships, including peer-to-peer scientific relationships with leading HCPs and specialists. Maintain cross-BU alignment on metrics, prepare for stakeholder meetings, gather and analyze insights, provide stakeholder feedback to relevant departments, support evidence creation through cross-functional partnerships, and ensure patient-centric medical communications and deliverables. Align, contribute, and collaborate with internal stakeholders by sharing expert and HCP feedback on product life cycle strategies, collecting and analyzing unmet medical needs, providing scientific input for meetings and materials, and delivering medical education programs. Observe the code of conduct, company regulations, and compliance requirements, conduct activities in compliance with MHLW Guidelines for Prescription Drug Sales Information Activities, and ensure communications comply with applicable policies, guidelines, and regulations. For all Pfizer products, observe applicable laws, regulations, and Pfizer policy, and gather and report safety information; attend training on assigned safety-reporting obligations as appropriate. As needed, contribute to business development in assigned areas by identifying unmet medical needs and candidate therapies for potential medical interventions in Japan in collaboration with relevant medical and cross-functional colleagues, while maintaining confidentiality. Rapidly respond to critical supply issues from the medical perspective, including communications with academic societies and regulatory authorities.
- 4-year university undergraduate degree and a master’s degree in life science; or - Pharmacists: 4-year university graduates with a pharmacist license and a master’s degree or above or equivalent life science research experience, or 6-year university graduates with a pharmacist license; or - Nurses with a master’s degree or above; or - Veterinarians; or - Dentists; or - MDs - Medical/pharmaceutical expert knowledge of the therapeutic disease area and products - Ability to communicate appropriately and build good relationships with internal and external stakeholders - Ability to work effectively with teams and across functions, demonstrate Pfizer’s Values & Behaviors, and learn from others - Ability to conduct medical discussions with relevant departments and external HCPs - Understanding of compliance and relevant pharmaceutical industry laws and regulations, and advocacy for appropriate product use - Knowledge and understanding of internal organizational structure, key stakeholders, and strategies - Ability to quickly acquire necessary medical/scientific knowledge and skills through self-learning - Clinical research experience - Ability to understand written and spoken English and Japanese in the assigned therapeutic disease area and scientific interactions
- MD with clinical experience; board certification preferred - PhD in Life Science - Work experience in Medical Affairs, Development, and/or Research - Scientific publication experience - Medical science liaison experience - Minimum TOEIC score of 730
