AI is rapidly changing the conventional wisdom around product development. What is needed going forward is not simply someone who can correctly solve assigned problems. It is a leader who can identify challenges users have not yet been able to articulate, connect business, technology, and design, and bring others together to turn new ideas into value. This program is an 11-day, hands-on, selection-linked program in which participants leverage the assets of the Mercari Group to envision new products and businesses for the AI era. Participants will be divided into small teams and mentored throughout the program by leaders responsible for Mercari products. In the final review, you will present your team’s proposal directly to the CEOs of Mercari Group companies, the SVP overseeing the Japan business, the CPO (Chief Product Officer) overseeing products in the Fintech domain, the CAIO (Chief AI Officer) leading Mercari’s AI strategy, and other executives, with the goal of winning the top prize. Previous Product Manager experience is not required. We are looking for people who are ready to tackle questions with no single right answer, make decisions for themselves, bring others along, and see things through to the end. We look forward to meeting people who want to create products that change the world in the AI era. The program will run for 11 weekdays from Tuesday, December 1 through Tuesday, December 15, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. each day. The schedule may vary depending on the program activities. You must bring your own laptop. The program will be held at the Roppongi office, and remote participation is not available on any day.
- Be able to join as a new graduate in October 2027 or April 2028 - Have experience using products from the Mercari Group - Be able to attend the program in person at the Roppongi office throughout its duration - Japanese proficiency at CEFR C1 level - Identify with Mercari’s mission and values and want to create products that change the world
- Lunch will be provided during the program. - Participants traveling from within the Greater Tokyo area (Tokyo, Kanagawa, Chiba, and Saitama prefectures) are responsible for their own transportation costs. - For participants traveling from elsewhere in Japan, outside the Greater Tokyo area, transportation and accommodation will be arranged. - Transportation: Shinkansen or air travel - Participants are responsible for transportation costs between their home and the Shinkansen station or airport, and between the Shinkansen station or airport and the Roppongi office. - Participation stipend: ¥150,000 (for participants who complete the entire internship program. Participants are responsible for the cost of any AI tools they use.) - Grand prize: In addition to the participation stipend, the top team will receive Mercari Points worth ¥1,000,000 in total.
