We are looking for a backend engineer to collaborate with a small full-stack team to build cloud infrastructure and products for evaluating, monitoring, and governing AI systems. You will have broad responsibilities across cloud infrastructure and product backends. On the cloud infrastructure side, you will work on latency and cost optimization, scalability, monitoring, and deployments. On the product side, you will work on web servers, SQL databases, LLM/AI libraries, GPU inference, API design, integrations with external services (e.g., SSO), and generic product features for the governance of AI models and agents. The host product is primarily operated on Google Cloud (mainly Compute Engine, Cloud Run, Cloud Build, Artifact Registry, and Vertex AI). Self-hosted deployments on Azure and AWS are also supported. The backend is implemented mainly in Python. Technologies used: Docker, Helm, Tilt, OpenTofu, PostgreSQL, Redis, FastAPI, Flask.
- 3+ years of professional experience in cloud infrastructure / backend engineering - Business-level English and Japanese skills (required) - Location: Tokyo preferred, but remote work will be considered for exceptional candidates - Experience with GCP or Python is not required, but you must be an expert in the cloud platform and technology stack you choose
- Experience working at a startup - Experience related to AI/ML/LLM
