Woven by ToyotaThe Mobility City Development team develops a mobility ecosystem in which advanced products demonstrated in Woven City, such as autonomous driving, eVTOL, and micromobility, and Toyota’s broader range of mobility solutions are connected and complement one another to create value for society. The team also develops the platforms that enable this ecosystem, with the mission of deploying these platforms in real-world environments and growing them into sustainable and scalable businesses. Working with mobility operators, municipalities, and Toyota Group partners, the team combines software, mobility, and urban development to create new services that improve how people move and the value of cities. It is developing a product that integrates a MaaS system supporting the delivery and operation of mobility services with an end-user application, with plans to expand its capabilities through integration with other services, systems, and urban infrastructure. This role uses that product to transform real-world mobility experiences in cities. We are looking for a Frontend Engineer who can independently drive the design, implementation, testing, and continuous improvement of the frontend for a MaaS product in development and validation. You will create intuitive, accessible experiences by understanding the needs, workflows, and environments of mobility service users and service providers and operators. You will use technologies such as React and TypeScript to design and implement reusable UI components, integrate APIs, and manage UI state, choosing approaches that balance rapid development during validation with maintainability, future feature expansion, and integration with other services. Working closely with Product Managers, Designers, Backend Engineers, and Business teams, you will translate ambiguous requirements and operational challenges into concrete interfaces, interactions, and functionality. You will propose improvements while communicating technical feasibility and constraints, and enhance usability, accessibility, rendering performance, and error handling through testing and code reviews. You will learn directly from actual service use and operations, translate user feedback and usage data into continuous improvement, take an interest in adjacent areas, respect teammates, and proactively solve problems. You will also use emerging technologies, including generative AI, to improve development speed and quality while taking responsibility for verifying your work.
- 3+ years of experience working in front end using modern js libraries/frameworks, specifically React and Typescript - 3+ years of experience working with essential front end languages like HTML, CSS/SASS/CSS-in-JS, and vanilla JavaScript - Experience working with modern development tools and cloud infrastructure (containerization, CI/CD, AWS, etc.) - Experience in software verification and validation of UI applications - Experience in software architecture design of web applications - Business-level Japanese language skills, conversational English or above and work experience at a Japanese company
- Experience in Business/System developing related to mobility services - Both agile and waterfall development experiences - Experience in full stack development (server side and frontend) - Experience with graphic design applications such as Figma and Sketch - Experience in commitment to open source software
