ETAS provides integrated authoring services and software solutions related to repair and service information and in-vehicle manuals for OEMs. These services are available to all who need them, including manufacturing sites, maintenance shops, and end users. We are looking for a Customer Solution Engineer to support the growth of the VIS product business in Japan, particularly for Vehicle Health Assistant and ActiveSchematics. This position will be responsible for customer interactions and will serve as the primary technical contact connecting Japanese OEMs with the VIS global organization. The role involves understanding the needs of the Japanese market, identifying customer challenges, and translating the VIS product offerings into solutions suitable for the Japanese market. Key responsibilities include acting as the main technical contact for Japanese OEMs and strategic customers regarding VIS solutions, collecting, analyzing, and structuring customer requirements into clear business requirements and technical specifications, discussing solutions and system integration architecture with customer engineering teams to ensure alignment with VIS product architecture, identifying market-specific business opportunities and driving the development of local solutions for the Japanese market, supporting customer workshops, demonstrations, proof of concepts (PoC), and pilot projects, providing technical consulting during sales activities and customer onboarding, coordinating implementation activities to ensure smooth adoption and integration of solutions by customers, representing the "voice of the customer" within the global organization, and collaborating with product owners and global development teams to prioritize feature improvements based on customer needs. Additionally, the role requires continuous monitoring of industry trends, maintenance business processes, AI utilization, and competitive dynamics in the Japanese automotive market.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Automotive Engineering, or a related field - Practical experience in a technical role involving customer interaction, such as Solution Engineer, Technical Consultant, Application Engineer, or System Engineer. Direct experience with automotive OEMs is preferred - Sufficient knowledge of software and solution architecture (cloud-based architecture, system integration patterns, APIs) to engage in professional discussions about solution design with customer engineering teams - High capability to collect, analyze, and document customer requirements and translate them into scalable solution concepts - Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills for both technical and business departments - Ability to manage multiple customer projects simultaneously - Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (Europe and the United States) - Native-level Japanese language skills and business-level English communication skills
- Experience in automotive diagnostics, systems for maintenance shops, after-sales services, or technical documentation - Knowledge and experience with AI-enabled applications and digital assistant technologies - Understanding of Microsoft Azure cloud services and modern software architecture - Work experience in an agile product development environment (Scrum, SAFe, or similar methodologies) - Knowledge of data analysis and data-driven services - Experience supporting product localization and the development of market-specific solutions - Understanding of development and procurement processes within Japanese automotive OEMs
