Mercari’s HRBP team works closely with people and organizations to develop and execute all HR and organizational strategies that contribute to business success. To help Mercari Group succeed in its diverse and dynamic challenges, the team proactively identifies and resolves talent and organizational issues, working closely with leaders and team members while remaining committed to business growth. Mercari Group is at a turning point as it moves toward its next stage of growth, and transformation is needed across both its businesses and organization. In this role, the HRBP will support a specific business, develop strategies together with business executives and management, and aim to lead the business to success through HR initiatives. As an HRBP, you will thoroughly engage with frontline operations, organizational issues, and people-related challenges to identify the underlying themes. You will involve executives and leaders at every level, including managers, in developing and implementing strategic initiatives that drive company-wide transformation. You will also take ownership and accountability through to the end, ensuring each initiative reaches the “last mile.” Responsibilities include initiatives to embed the company’s culture, including its mission and values; developing workforce plans for the assigned organization and collaborating with the recruiting team to fulfill them; improving engagement across the organization, teams, and employees; supporting employee careers, development, and talent management; managing employee relations and labor matters; administering HR, performance evaluation, and compensation systems; establishing and managing various operations related to organizational management; and collaborating with the Center of Excellence (the HR specialist team) on HR planning and system design. Examples of initiatives include Strategic Workforce Planning, manager development programs, planning and operating new employee onboarding, Talent Review, succession planning, and strengthening internal communications. The scope of HR responsibilities at Mercari is broad, and there are many issues to address. This role requires working with management to envision the ideal state of the business and organization, then making difficult choices about where to focus based on the circumstances. In return, it is an exciting opportunity to see the growth of the business and organization up close. You can work on solving challenges while playing a key role in Mercari Group’s transition and transformation as it prepares to leap into its next growth phase. With strong initiative and ownership of business and organizational challenges as an HR professional, you can take on challenges that push beyond your limits, with significant responsibility and autonomy. Through close partnership with the business, you will gain experience in business growth and organizational development at the same time. As a partner to management—including executives, VPs, and managers—HRBPs not only support important organizational decisions but also drive them. In a company that is constantly changing, you will face a wide range of organizational challenges and take the lead in promoting improvements in collaboration with the right teams.
