Job Function: Customer Management Job Sub Function: Technical Field Service Job Category: Professional All Job Posting Locations: Chiyoda, Tokyo, Japan Job Description: The service engineer is primarily responsible for in-house service operations related to Abiomed's medical device, the Automated Impella Console. Key responsibilities include maintenance, software and hardware updates, troubleshooting, repairs, and management of equipment and related service assets. Additionally, the role supports maintenance contract-related tasks, maintains accurate service activity records, and facilitates smooth customer support and service operation continuity through close collaboration with Sales, Quality Assurance, Supply Chain, and other relevant departments. Besides in-house service operations, there may be occasions to visit customer facilities for equipment installation and device connection setup. During customer facility visits, the service engineer will clearly explain service-related procedures and technical information to clinical engineers and hospital administrative staff to promote proper understanding.
- More than 3 years of experience as a clinical engineer in a hospital or as a field service engineer in the medical device industry. - Basic knowledge of mechanical, electrical, network, and software systems. - Ability to communicate smoothly with clinical engineers, hospital administrative staff, sales agents, and internal stakeholders. - Proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. - Native-level communication skills in Japanese. - Ability to read technical manuals in English and create necessary English emails for service-related communication.
