The Inquiry Management Section responds to inquiries and requests from investigative agencies regarding criminal investigations and offense investigations under various laws, as well as inquiries about lost property received by Rakuten services. Its objective is to support law enforcement investigations and foster a safe and secure Rakuten Ecosystem. You will advance the systematization, automation, and streamlining of the systems and related operations used by the section, utilizing technologies such as AI. Responsibilities include responding to inquiries and requests from investigative agencies, sharing and consolidating information with managers of each business unit, and driving operational improvements, including promoting the use of AI for efficiency. Project examples include improving communications with law enforcement agencies by moving from paper documents to digital data, and automating internal investigations in response to inquiries using Python, Power Automate, and AI. The role covers requirements definition, development, and operational maintenance. The team has three staff members, each responsible for one project. The Crime Prevention & Control Department has approximately 12 members, and the Inquiry Management Section has 7 members, primarily in their 30s. The team consists of mid-career hires. Average overtime is approximately 10 hours per month. On-site work is the primary requirement because the role involves frequent access to Rakuten users’ personal and confidential information. New hires receive on-the-job training and mentor support. Team members have backgrounds including public service, web development, and consulting. Some employees have moved to fraud prevention departments within Rakuten after gaining 4–5 years of experience in the section.
- Resonance with the mission of protecting Rakuten and its users, and commitment to working with integrity. - At least 3 years of back-office experience, such as at a law firm, private corporation, or government agency. - Experience in a leadership or management role; team size does not matter.
- Experience using tools for operational efficiency or process improvement. - At least 1–2 years of experience handling personal information. - Work experience in a financial institution, such as a credit card company. - Professional certifications related to information processing or IT. - A proactive attitude toward utilizing cutting-edge technologies such as AI. - Business-level English proficiency, including experience with emails, document creation, and meetings. - Programming knowledge and experience applying it to work tasks. - Experience with Python, Power Automate, or similar system development is highly preferred.
