As a sales representative for advanced instruments that support life sciences research, you will propose solutions to a wide range of customers, including universities, research institutions, hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, and biotech startups. The products you will handle include essential mid- to large-scale instruments used in research settings, such as flow cytometers, cell sorters, microscopes, plate readers, automated nucleic acid extraction systems, and NanoDrop. This business has continued to grow in recent years, and its large-instrument business is also expanding. With new products scheduled for launch, this is an environment where you can exercise significant autonomy and take on major challenges as a sales professional alongside market growth. Rather than simply selling products, you will practice consultative selling by gaining a deep understanding of customers’ research topics, workflows, and business challenges and proposing the most suitable solutions. As a trusted advisor, you will support customers in achieving research outcomes and business goals while building long-term partnerships. As a member of the Thermo Fisher Scientific sales team, you will draw on a broad portfolio of products and services to help create “a healthier, cleaner, and safer world” together with our customers. The territory is based in Tokyo or Nagoya and covers Nagoya, Saitama, Sendai, and other surrounding areas. Sales activities involve travel within the assigned territory, approximately 50–75% of the time. You will also be expected to work regularly from the Tokyo headquarters. Applicants must reside in the Greater Tokyo area or Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture. Key responsibilities include consultative sales to customers in research and healthcare, proposing large-scale and advanced instruments, developing and executing strategic sales plans, building relationships with key accounts, managing distributors, collaborating internally on team sales, and managing sales activities using CRM. You will conduct sales activities with customers primarily at universities and research institutions, as well as hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, biotech startups, and small and medium-sized businesses. By gaining a deep understanding of customers’ research topics, applications, workflows, and challenges, you will propose solutions that combine the most suitable instruments, reagents, and services. You will drive large-scale deals worth several million to tens of millions of yen and research facility installation projects, develop sales strategies for your territory and key accounts, and execute action plans to achieve sales targets. You will analyze market trends and customer needs to generate new opportunities and expand business with existing customers. You will build relationships with researchers, physicians, facility managers, procurement staff, and executives, and strengthen sales capabilities through collaboration with distributors, product training sessions, and the sharing of sales strategies. You will work with related teams, including reagent sales, Field Application Scientists (FAS), technical support, and marketing, and use CRM tools such as Salesforce to manage sales opportunities and customer information. The sales approach combines customer visits with online meetings and emphasizes teamwork.
