The Public Sector Business Development organization is a team that advances business development across the public sector—including central government ministries and agencies, local governments, education, NPOs, public health, and defense—in collaboration with teams across public sector sales, alliances, marketing, government affairs, and technology. Japan’s public sector is currently undergoing significant transformation, with growing momentum for growth through public-private collaboration. To expand our public sector business, the team leads policy advocacy, the development of large-scale projects leveraging technologies such as AI, and the establishment of the internal infrastructure and systems needed to support them. It drives business co-creation by deepening public-private partnerships. This Director role leads medium- to long-term business development in the assigned area. Working closely with internal teams, the successful candidate will strengthen strategic relationships with members of the National Diet, government agencies, key figures in major local governments, and influencers across industry, academia, and civil society. In collaboration with sales and technology teams, this leader will advance digital transformation in government—improving administrative productivity, enhancing resident services, and delivering new value through public services—as well as efforts to address social challenges, using Salesforce’s latest technologies, including AI. The role is also expected to communicate the value of our AI and cloud offerings in the public sector, both internally and externally, through speaking at events and participating in relevant organizations. The successful candidate will build strong relationships with stakeholders across the Japanese government, central government ministries and agencies, and local governments, and will develop and execute medium- to long-term public sector business strategies aligned with customer goals. As the lead for the assigned area, the candidate will work with internal and external stakeholders to deliver end-to-end initiatives, from policy advocacy and project development to establishing public-private partnership frameworks and carrying out marketing and communications activities. In close collaboration with global teams, the candidate will bring leading practices and trends from overseas public sectors—such as the safe use of AI—to Japan, while adapting and optimizing effective business processes proven globally for the Japanese market. The candidate will serve as an evangelist, clearly communicating Salesforce’s value to government stakeholders, particularly its trusted AI governance. Through participation in and collaboration with external organizations, the candidate will propose solutions that combine technologies such as AI to address social challenges and lead co-creation across industry, government, academia, and civil society, contributing to the creation of major opportunities (big deals) and business growth. The candidate will also provide timely internal updates on the latest government developments, policy trends, and guidelines for the use of AI and data in government, supporting business development by engaging relevant teams.
