Great guest experiences start with a team that feels supported, confident and inspired. At Kimpton Shinjuku Tokyo, we’re looking for an Assistant Director of Rooms to help lead our Rooms operations, oversee Housekeeping and champion Learning & Development across the hotel. Working closely with our Director of Rooms and People & Culture team, you’ll help colleagues grow and turn our service standards into warm, personal experiences for our guests. Every day is different, but you’ll mostly be supporting the Director of Rooms in managing daily operations, resolving guest concerns and bringing departments together to deliver a seamless stay; overseeing Housekeeping through the department’s leadership team, ensuring guest rooms and public areas meet our standards for cleanliness, presentation and comfort; reviewing staffing, productivity, costs and supplies, while coordinating room readiness and maintenance with Front Office and Engineering; leading Learning & Development across the hotel, identifying learning needs with People & Culture and department heads, and creating an annual learning plan; organising and delivering orientation, brand and service training, and leadership development programmes; coaching departmental trainers, supporting on-the-job learning and coordinating IHG learning programmes; and tracking learning completion and assessing how training translates into stronger skills, improved service and better guest experiences. Reporting to the Director of Rooms, you’ll oversee the Housekeeping leader and work closely with People & Culture on hotelwide learning priorities. This combined role includes planned, dedicated time for Learning & Development alongside your Rooms responsibilities.
