As a member of the company’s management team and head of the sales function, the Senior Sales Manager will shape and execute the sales strategy, lead the sales organization, and drive growth in revenue, order intake, and profitability. This is a hands-on leadership role. Alongside leading the sales team, the Senior Sales Manager will engage directly with customers, develop new business, and support commercial and contract negotiations. This role offers the opportunity to play an active role in shaping the company’s mid- to long-term business strategy and key management decisions; take ownership of revenue, order intake, profitability, the customer portfolio, and the sales organization; lead the sales team while staying close to customers and the market to drive business growth; contribute to global business development in collaboration with headquarters in Germany and teams across East Asia; and work across strategy, execution, team development, and customer-facing sales in a compact organization. The role involves contributing as a member of the management team to the company’s mid- to long-term business strategy, annual business plan, and key initiatives; developing and executing sales strategies and plans aligned with the company’s business priorities; identifying growth opportunities, priority customers, and focus technology areas in Japan and East Asia; and bringing a commercial perspective to company-wide decisions, including investment priorities and resource allocation. Responsibilities also include setting team and individual objectives, clarifying roles and account ownership, monitoring progress, allocating resources, coaching and developing sales team members, managing performance, and building processes and ways of working that enable the team to operate with autonomy and accountability. The Senior Sales Manager will lead the team’s sales activities while remaining personally involved in winning new customers and growing existing accounts; build and maintain relationships with stakeholders at all levels of customer organizations; join customer meetings, support commercial discussions, and coach team members through the sales process; partner closely with project management and engineering teams to translate customer needs into compelling, competitive proposals; align priorities and activities with headquarters in Germany, teams across East Asia, and relevant Bosch Japan divisions; and share opportunity intelligence and coordinate sales activities with stakeholders in Japan and overseas. Target markets include two-wheelers, passenger cars, commercial vehicles, off-highway vehicles and machinery, MaaS, and aerospace. The product portfolio includes automotive steering systems, braking systems, E/E architecture, system engineering, ADAS/AD, VCU/ECU, cybersecurity, hydrogen engine and fuel cell solutions; and non-automotive millimeter-wave radar, ultrasonic sensors, cameras, motors, inverters, cybersecurity, hydrogen engine and fuel cell solutions. Candidates are not expected to bring expertise across every market and technology area listed above from day one.
- B2B sales experience in the automotive industry, including software-related products or system solutions. - People management experience at section manager, sales manager, or equivalent level. - Experience developing sales or account strategies and translating them into concrete sales actions. - A proven track record of acquiring new customers or winning new business. - Experience managing commercial discussions and negotiations with Japanese corporate customers. - Native-level Japanese and business-level English, with the ability to lead meetings, negotiations, and presentations with international stakeholders.
- Experience with software development projects, technical sales, or solution sales. - Experience working with overseas customers or collaborating with international teams. - Experience developing sales strategies across multiple markets. - Technical knowledge in areas such as ADAS, E/E architecture, or cybersecurity. - Experience working in a multicultural or global organization.
