Full-time (Seishain)

Driver Monitoring Systems (DMS) - detecting driver inattentiveness such as visual distraction and eye closure using in-cabin cameras - are becoming a standard, safety-critical feature in new vehicles. As a supplier delivering DMS to Toyota, our work spans the full mass-production lifecycle: from requirements analysis and product implementation through to functional safety, quality assurance, and delivery to the customer. Our challenges include robustly monitoring drivers, passengers, and the driving environment, and handling anything that could obstruct the camera from recognizing facial features, such as eyewear or facial hair. For the next-generation In-Cabin Monitoring System (IMS), we aim to enhance capabilities, improve robustness, and expand use cases so that drivers maintain the appropriate level of focus depending on the situation and the level of automation in the vehicle - while meeting the stringent safety and quality standards required for automotive mass production. We are looking for an engineer with a growth mindset and a passion for making safe, driverless vehicles a reality and who is excited to grow with us in mass-production automotive development. Our daily work includes analyzing customer and system requirements, implementing and evaluating software, and driving improvements through data analysis - all while considering safety and quality from the earliest phase. You have hands-on experience developing software for a product from the requirements phase through product release, and you are eager to deepen your expertise in automotive safety and quality domains such as functional safety, SOTIF, DRBFM, and quality assurance. You will come to the office 3 days per week per our hybrid work policy, and report to the manager for In-Cabin Perception Development.

Senior AI Engineer - LLM Adoption Department (LLMAD)

RakutenRakuten
21/08/2026
Tokyo
Onsite
Fixed Hours
Full-time (Seishain)

As a Senior AI Engineer you will own a business unit engagement end to end. You sit inside their engineering team and build with them: designing the agent, selecting and evaluating the model, writing the prompts and tool-use logic, and getting it live in production on our own infrastructure. You are expected to operate independently - taking a vague business ask, turning it into a concrete and evaluable LLM task, and being accountable for it shipping. What you build also becomes reusable: the cookbooks, recipes, and reference implementations the rest of the team and other business units start from. This role sits close to the product rather than close to the model: You will not be training or fine-tuning foundation models - that sits with our model research and training teams. You will not be building the LLM platform itself - that sits with our platform engineering teams. You will be embedded in a business unit, writing agent and integration code inside their product, and accountable for it shipping on our models.
