We are expanding our team to strengthen our organizational structure in response to rapid business growth and an increase in shared service operations for the Rakuten Group. We provide essential shared services to Rakuten Group companies, including Rakuten Mobile, by managing critical processes such as contracts, stamping, and electronic signatures. Beyond routine administrative tasks, you will serve as a hub between Legal, General Affairs, and business units. You will lead the adoption of electronic contracts and the improvement of approval systems, balancing rigorous governance ("defense") with the speed required for business growth ("offense"). As our business scales, we face the challenge of balancing rapid decision-making with strict compliance. We are looking for someone who can drive productivity across the entire organization from a back-office perspective. We invite you to leverage your experience to help us build the next stage of our growth. We are a flat, diverse team where young talent and seasoned professionals collaborate and challenge each other. As a shared service center providing high-value administrative support across the Rakuten Group, you will work alongside various experts in a dynamic, growth-oriented environment. As a core member of our shared service function, you will provide high-value administrative support to Rakuten Group companies, including Rakuten Mobile, while driving risk management and operational efficiency for critical processes such as contracts, stamping, and electronic signatures. Please note that our services are currently focused on internal group entities. Acting as a bridge between Legal, business units, and group companies, you will build the governance foundation that drives organizational growth. Leveraging the Rakuten Group’s extensive network, you will lead cross-functional service initiatives and play a vital role in supporting our business operations across the group. You will plan and execute initiatives to strengthen risk management and operational efficiency for contracts and e-signatures; optimize approval workflows and systems to ensure internal control and process excellence; oversee the execution of important documents and manage digital certificates and corporate seals; manage administrative services outsourced from group companies, including operational setup and support; and draft and update internal regulations and provide guidance on governance. These tasks will be assigned based on your experience and suitability. Projects include implementing and standardizing a unified e-signature platform across the group, building scalable and efficient workflows for administrative services outsourced from group companies, and driving end-to-end process improvement to reduce turnaround time from initial proposal to final contract execution. The General Affairs Department has 28 members in total, divided into four groups of approximately 5–10 members. Team members range from their 20s to 40s, and approximately 90% are mid-career hires. The team includes people with backgrounds in Legal, HR, Executive Secretarial support, Sales, and Retail. Average overtime is approximately 10 hours per month, though this may fluctuate depending on project demands and seasonal workload.
As the owner of a territory assigned by area, you will develop sales plans and make proposals to new customers, as well as drive upselling and cross-selling to existing customers, primarily serving small and medium-sized businesses and venture companies in and around Tokyo. Your primary contacts will be business leaders, such as executives and company officers, allowing you to engage in highly consultative sales activities. Working in coordination with the Marketing, Inside Sales, and Channel Sales teams, as well as partners, you will drive new customer acquisition and deepen relationships with existing customers in your territory. In addition to solving customers’ challenges, you will act as a Trusted Advisor, proposing the future they aspire to achieve and the state they should strive for. Because you provide services rather than products, you will not need to spend time shipping or delivering products and can focus on proposals that contribute to customer success. Most of the people you will make proposals to in this department are at the CEO level, enabling you to develop proposal skills directly connected to business management. Since you will be presenting to decision-makers, the period from the start of a sales opportunity to contract signing is short, giving you many opportunities to close deals.
